Northern Cyprus / Nicosia
The first mention of the city dates back to 280 BC. During those ancient times, the city was called Ledra, but later renamed Leucotheon. The city of Nicosia became the capital of the island in the 11th century, when the ruling Lusignans developed the city into a powerful fortress with royal mansions and numerous churches.
Nicosia or Lefkosia - the capital of Cyprus and the center of the so-called Turkish Northern Cyprus, the only capital in the world, is divided in half by the Green Line. Today Nicosia is the most populous city in Cyprus with over 300,000 inhabitants. The capital is located in the center of the island and is the only major city further from the coast. Currently, Nicosia is the main commercial, commercial and cultural center of Cyprus. In the very heart of the city - the picturesque old town - international conferences and seminars, numerous fairs, and major exhibitions are constantly held.
Those who appreciate beauty will enjoy visiting museums that have repeatedly been recognized as the best in Europe; those who enjoy food will love Balkan and Greek cuisine, and hedonists of all ages will enjoy ancient Byzantine baths and modern spas.
Despite Nicosia's distance from the coast, real estate there is actively bought by foreigners as well as locals. Nicosia's real estate prices are comparable to those in popular Cypriot resorts. The area of a two-bed apartment is about 70-80 square feet. A two-bedroom apartment costs about 200k EUR. The rent in Nicosia is slightly lower than in coastal cities.
